Today I finally took my very first walk in Cherokee Park. It was just a brief exploration walk to find the closest trail head to my home. But even a brief walk can be great if you keep your eyes open. I saw five turtles sun bathing on logs in the creek. One of them was a juvenile (so cute!). If I had been walking a little faster, I would not have seen them. It was great to see that wildlife can still survive in Louisville's garbage infested waters. I do not know if they were indigenous or not; they could be former pets or descendents of pets, but they could have been local turtles, like the
Painted Turtle. Next time I will be sure to take a camera with me.
